About the Kampe Foundation


OUR MISSION:

The Kampe Foundation is a private operating foundation providing programs and funding to nonprofit organizations and individuals in the fields of community development, social justice, sustainable agriculture and environmental issues.

WE ACCOMPLISH OUR WORK BY:

The Kampe Foundation serves nonprofit organizations and communities in most of the western United States. Special project areas include San Mateo County, California and Western Colorado, especially the North Fork of the Gunnison River Valley. Grants are awarded in our 4 program areas:
1. Healthcare and education for special populations (youth, disabled, low-income and senior citizens)
2. Ethics, social justice, Christian ministry
3. Science and engineering
4. Sustainable agriculture and local food systems

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
-Illustrate financial need.
-Be actively involved in a Kampe Foundation selected program area.
-Be geographically located in the western states of: CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, UT, NV, CO or WY.
-Applicants are eligible to reapply at the end of a grant period if a final report is on file for the previous grant award or is included with new application.
-Requests will be considered for either general support or specific project support.
-Site visits may be requested at the discretion of the Foundation


GRANT AMOUNTS:

Grant amounts will generally range from 1,000 - 7,500.


HOW TO APPLY:

The Kampe Foundation requires all individuals and organizations interested in funding to submit a letter of inquiry (two copies).

Letter of inquiry instructions
Your letter of inquiry to the Kampe Foundation should be two to three pages (maximum) providing the following information:
-A statement of your personal or organizational goals, mission and history of your accomplishments.
-The purpose of your request, need for proposed project or scholarship funding.
-Anticipated outcome of the project or scholarship if funded.
-How will you evaluate the project?
-The relationship of the request to your mission or personal goals.

After we receive your letter of inquiry, it will be reviewed by the Foundation board. Applicants will be notified regarding our interest with the inquiry within eight weeks of the submission. If the project is selected for further consideration, a program officer will send out an application and schedule a meeting to discuss the request.
